The present study analyzes the discourse of ISIS (the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) as one of the religious-political movements formed in the Islamic world. The above movement, while being influenced by international factors, has a special discourse atmosphere. The main objectives of the present study are to identify the elements of discourse in the ISIL group, to identify the counter-discourse and discourses against the ISIL group, to identify the central and floating signifiers governing the discourse of the ISIL, and to determine the articulation governing the discourse of this group. To achieve these goals, Laclau and Mouffe's theory of discourse was used simultaneously as a theoretical foundation and research method. This theory, on the one hand, is suitable for analyzing political and social phenomena at the macro level due to its emphasis on concepts such as central slab, floating slab, antithesis, antagonism, hegemony, etc., and on the other hand, due to its methodological foundations, it can be used as a research method. In this study, the texts related to the ISIL magazine, which has been published in 15 issues in both English and Arabic; Were selected as the statistical population. The findings of the study indicate that the central signifier of the ruling discourse of ISIL is the Islamic Caliphate. Floating signifiers in the discourse of ISIL have also become significant in relation to the above central signifier, and based on this, signifiers such as enemy-jihad-migration and caliph (Imam) were recognized as floating signifiers of this group.
