The present article aims to identify the political and social dimensions of women's activism in the social changes of contemporary Iran and seeks to examine their political participation during the victory of the Islamic Revolution and the establishment of the Islamic Republic based on existing documents. Revolution posters are a kind of political poster that contains features and visual elements related to the nature of the developments of this period. Among the few works available on the subject of the presence of women in the Islamic Revolution, researchers have semiotically analyzed eight available posters. The method of research is qualitative and the technique used is social semiotics with a focus on the social meaning evoked. The semiotic report of each image is presented separately based on Van Leeuwen’s three paradigms based on the meaning of representation, interaction, and combination. In general, it can be concluded that women’s political participation is depicted in the form of participation in demonstrations and elections in posters. Although quantitatively less present than men, women in the focal positions of the poster are depicted side by side with men. The posters bear the hallmarks of Islamic ideology, including the hijab, as well as the responsibility of motherhood and closeness to the martyrs of the revolution for women, and often evoke the social role of mother-woman. Therefore, it can be claimed; Revolution posters contain hints of new gender relations at this time. In other words, the combination of semantic levels in the general figure shows; How a militant Muslim woman in the revolutionary atmosphere and as a socially active activist has found the opportunity for political participation, regardless of gender stereotypes, under the supportive positions of the Supreme Leader
