One of the tools that has significantly influenced political and cultural developments in various societies in recent years is social media. By providing a platform for extensive communication, information exchange, and the expression of diverse opinions and viewpoints, social media has played a crucial role in shaping citizens' political behaviors. This study aims to examine this phenomenon using the latest wave of World Values Survey (WVS) data concerning Turkey. To address the research questions, secondary data analysis and the SPSS software were utilized, and statistical methods were applied for analysis. The descriptive results of the study indicate that the usage rate of social media among Turkish citizens is high, their inclination towards secular and emancipative values is low, and their tendency towards democracy is high. Moreover, the inferential findings reveal that, firstly, social media has had a negative and significant impact on democracy in Turkey, leading to a decrease in people's inclination towards democracy. Secondly, the results suggest that although social media, through the mediating variable of emancipative values, increases and strengthens citizens' tendency towards democracy, it simultaneously negatively affects democracy through the mediating variable of secular values, thereby reducing citizens' inclination towards democracy.
